American Maritime Statement on Heritage Foundation Report

WASHINGTON – The American Maritime Partnership (AMP), the voice of the nation’s domestic maritime industry, today released the following statement from AMP Chairman Thomas A. Allegretti on the recent report from the Heritage Foundation on the Jones Act and the American maritime industry.

“This report is almost comically one-sided, with no reasonable attempt at balance,” said Allegretti.  “We had hoped that Heritage would not be so rigid that it would call for the sacrifice of the important contemporary benefits that the Jones Act provides to our nation — including economic, homeland, and national security — simply on the basis of an incomplete and archaic analysis and on the altar of philosophical purity.”
