AMP Commemorates Anniversary of ‘Miracle on the Hudson,” Reminds How Jones Act Was Critical in Rescue

WASHINGTON, DC (January 15, 2016) – The American Maritime Partnership (AMP)- the voice of the domestic maritime industry – today released a statement in honor of the 7-year anniversary of the New York’s ‘Miracle on the Hudson.’

“As the nation commemorates the 7th anniversary of the Miracle on the Hudson — the heroic emergency landing by Captain Chelsey “Sully” Sullenberger and co-pilot Jeffrey Skiles  — we must not forget the awareness and heroism of the men and women of American maritime who alertly responded to the accident and quickly aided in the rescue of all 155 crew and passengers from that flight. This is yet another example of the benefits of the Jones Act and the capacity of our maritime operators to be the eyes and ears of this nation’s security and safety.”
