Fabricate buildings, beams, girders, weldments, etc., out of miscellaneous steel materials according to contract specifications and blueprints, with minimum supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Read and interpret all types of drawings and sketches, lay out and assemble with speed and accuracy, with the aid of supervision.
Identify structural steel shapes, cut to length, lay-out and fit up welded or bolted detail, show weld sizes, piece marks, direction marks, etc.
Develop, bend, roll, build up, and assemble various types of plate assemblies and structures.
Follows direction from supervisor as well as ability to work independently from fabrication drawings and job procedure manuals.
Has latitude to self-direct for best practice and through-put.
Responsible for maintaining established schedules.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees
Ability to follow written and oral instructions regarding daily functions, safety rules and regulations, and possible hazardous conditions.
Ability to communicate with and instruct team members on the project.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Experience and ability to perform the above referenced essential functions and responsibilities.
Sufficient knowledge in burning, welding, and operation of production machines and cranes.
Capable of welding a 3/8 horizontal fillet weld with wire (FCAW); UT weld experience is a plus.
Knowledgeable in the operation of all fabrication equipment. CNC and NC operations not required but could be helpful.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Min. four Years’ welding/fabrication experience. Or apprentice program.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Hold valid certificate, or pass weld test upon employment.
Ability to lift, carry 60 lbs., or maneuver objects, difficult objects will be lifted with the assistance of mechanical means or additional manpower.
Must be able to lift 4 ft., 60 lb. spool of wire and load welding machine.
Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, twist, pull, push, grip, and climb.
Capable of working from ladders and scaffolding.
May be exposed to excessive noise, welding gases and fumes, and varying weather conditions. Proper protective equipment will be provided as necessary.
