Relief 1st Assistant Engineer, R/V Kilo Moana
Requirements: Unlimited, with oceans endorsement, a valid USCG Medical Certificate, and a valid Transportation Worker’s Identification Credential (TWIC).
Acts as the Chief Engineer’s principal assistant in all matters pertaining to engineering and administration of the Engineering Department. Acts as the daily foreman of the plant and oversees the performance of routine maintenance and repairs. Under the direction of the Chief Engineer, assigns, directs, and supervises daily work and watch standing of the Engineers in the Department. Completes all scheduled maintenance items and supervises the consumption and purification of fuel, as directed by the Chief Engineer. Performs all other duties that the Chief Engineer directs. Assumes the duties and responsibilities of the Chief Engineer in the event that the Chief Engineer becomes incapacitated due to sickness or injury. This is a sea-going ship’s crew working on a rotational schedule based on operational needs (e.g. 3-4 months on, 3-4 months off).
