General responsibilities:
Ability to teach an academic course load of 12 credits per semester (Fall and Spring) of college-level courses within the Emergency Management Department. Teaching responsibilities would primarily include Emergency Management and Homeland Security topic areas, along with related departmental courses as needed. The department’s curriculum may be viewed on the Massachusetts Maritime Academy’s website.
Regular curriculum development and improvement.
Participation in various academic committees in support of the Department and Academy.
Participation in Emergency Management Department Experiential Learning Programs.
Service as an academic advisor to assigned student advisees.
All teaching positions at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy require computer literacy, excellent written and oral communication skills, and an understanding of the Academy’s unique mission.
Qualifications and Requirements:
A Ph.D. in Emergency Management or related field (including public health, public administration, environmental management, information technology, or law) and be able to teach in one or more of the following areas: GIS and/or Emergency Management related Information Technology courses, Emergency Planning, Emergency Operations/Response, Emergency Recovery, Business Continuity/Infrastructure Protection.
Ideal candidate will have the ability to integrate and use various emergency management related technologies in the classroom.
Candidates with Masters Degrees and field experience who are working toward a terminal degree will be considered.
Demonstrated potential to fulfill evaluation criteria for teaching and advising at the college level.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, and computer skills. Understanding and appreciation of the Academy’s unique mission.
Academic rank of the successful candidate determined by academic background and experience.

Salary: $68,000-$72,000 The Academy offers generous benefits and a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Academy is not sponsoring immigration visas at this time.
