Investment Banking
Duties: Generate acquisition ideas for North American transportation and logistics corporations to enhance their capabilities and customer base, introduce them to potential partner companies, and perform due diligence to evaluate strengths and risks of opportunities. Advise leadership teams at client companies on engagement strategy with potential acquisition target companies and assist with raising financing to pay for acquisitions. Drive advisory and financing mandates. Advise large and small clients in corporate finance and business strategy to help meet short-term and long-term objectives by instructing clients on all aspects of deal structuring and negotiations leading to definitive purchases and/or merger agreements. Act as key point of contact for clients. Design and produce client deliverables, present analyses assessing multiple scenarios and potential impacts on clients, evaluate client feedback, and execute agreed upon strategies. Educate clients on an array of transportation sectors including logistics, logistics technology, airlines, and trucking (e.g. impact of new developments in areas like e-commerce and logistics technology, analysis and impact of dynamic freight trends globally, identification of opportunities to meet strategic objectives, financial analysis, valuation, and capital structure insight) to clients and other firm teams. Advise global transportation and logistics corporations on capital raising by public equity markets or private sales, and help assess best possible routes to maximize investments and benefit stakeholders including employees. Serve companies in freight logistics, freight logistics technology, trucking, aviation, railroads, and maritime shipping and infrastructure sectors. Serve as primary project leader from start-to-finish in the execution of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and capital raising assignments, working closely with other senior bankers and outside advisors including consultants, accountants and lawyers. Work with specialist capital market product groups to execute capital raising transactions in both debt and equity, including due diligence, coordination with other institutions, and preparation of marketing materials.
Minimum education and experience required: This position requires a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Management, Economics, or related field of study plus three (3) years of experience in the job offered or three (3) years of experience in Financial Analysis, Consulting, or related role. The employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of experience in lieu of a Master’s degree and three (3) years of experience.
Skills Required: This position requires three (3) years of experience with the following skills: advising clients across different transportation subsectors: freight logistics, freight logistics technology, trucking, aviation, railroads, and maritime shipping sectors; working with global transportation companies and assessing impacts to North American companies and investors; performing financial statement analysis, financial modeling, and other advanced corporate finance analysis including capital structure analysis, M&A structuring, tax implications in an M&A scenario, financial liquidity analysis, and ratings analysis; executing transactions in transportation sector; executing capital raising transactions in favor of cross-border M&A; and working on industrials and transportation lending from a credit risk perspective. This position requires 25% domestic travel.
