Communications/Development Associate – National Capital Region
Founded in 1985, Living Classrooms Foundation is a Baltimore-Washington, DC-based nonprofit that disrupts the cycle of poverty and makes our community safer, stronger, and healthier by meeting individuals where they are and building skills for life. Living Classrooms serves over 25,000 children, youth, and adults annually through hands-on education, job training, health and wellness, and violence prevention programming using urban, natural, and maritime resources as “living classrooms.”
The Communications/Development Associate is an integral member of the development team and will support Living Classrooms’ communications and development strategy, with focus in the National Capital Region. He/she reports directly to the Director of Communications and indirectly to the Vice President of Development and Communications and will be based out of Living Classrooms’ Washington, DC office. The Associate will work with the Communications and Development teams in implementing a comprehensive marketing, branding, communications, and public and internal messaging plan to ultimately increase our brand in the DC region, increase public awareness, media coverage, and funding sources. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Adobe Design Suite and will have experience creating graphics/marketing material. Periodic travel between our Baltimore and Washington, DC offices is required.

The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills with ability to relate to others; have knowledge of the Washington, DC market, be highly motivated, extremely organized, and a self-starter. Strong work ethic and ability to work independently and as a team member are a must. Some evening and weekend work is required for networking and special events. Experienced candidates are strongly preferred.
